Writers Unblocked ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Writers Unblocked platform, accessible at app.writersunblocked.studio (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our services.
By creating an account or using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.

Creative content you create or upload on the Platform, including manuscripts, world-building notes, character profiles, and other story materials (collectively, "Your Content")

Usage data: features accessed, time spent, session activity, and interactions with Platform tools
Device and browser information: IP address, browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
Log data: server logs, error reports, and diagnostic information
Analytics data collected via PostHog, including session replays and feature flag interactions
Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 6)
1.3 Content-Derived Data
As a core feature of the Platform, our AI-powered entity extraction system automatically identifies and organizes story elements — including characters, locations, timelines, and narrative threads — from Your Content. This process generates structured metadata that powers Platform features. This metadata is derived from and remains associated with Your Content.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, operate, and improve the Platform and its features
Process payments and manage your subscription
Authenticate your identity and maintain account security
Generate and maintain story-world metadata from Your Content to power AI-assisted features
Analyze usage patterns to improve product functionality and user experience
Send transactional emails (e.g., receipts, password resets) via Mailgun
Send service-related communications and product updates (you may opt out of marketing communications at any time)
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security incidents
Comply with legal obligations
3. Your Content
Your manuscripts, notes, and all creative materials you submit to the Platform are yours. We claim no ownership over Your Content.
We process Your Content solely to provide the services you have requested — including entity extraction, AI-assisted tools, and related Platform features. We do not use Your Content to train general-purpose AI models or sell your creative work to third parties.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you submit to the Platform.
4. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
4.1 Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party vendors who assist in operating the Platform, including:
Stripe — payment processing
Mailgun — transactional email delivery
PostHog — product analytics and session replay
Railway — backend infrastructure hosting
Vercel — frontend hosting
MongoDB Atlas — database services
Cloudflare — security and CDN services
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they perform on our behalf.
4.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
4.3 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent notice on the Platform prior to your information becoming subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information and Your Content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, subject to retention required for legal compliance, dispute resolution, or fraud prevention.
Derived metadata and analytics data may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form after account deletion.

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
