PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF SERVICE CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING THE WRITERS UNBLOCKED PLATFORM, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT USE THE PLATFORM.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Writers Unblocked platform operated by Writers Unblocked ("Writers Unblocked," "we," "our," or "us"), including the web application at app.writersunblocked.studio, all associated features, tools, and services (collectively, the "Platform").
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Platform. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Account Registration
To access the Platform, you must create an account. You agree to:
Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
Maintain the security of your password and not share your credentials with others
Promptly notify us of any unauthorized access or security breach at legal@writersunblocked.studio
Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
We reserve the right to terminate accounts that we reasonably believe have been created fraudulently or in violation of these Terms.
3. Subscriptions and Payments
3.1 Paid Plans
The Platform is offered on a subscription basis. We currently offer Writer, Starter, and Pro tiers. There is no permanently free tier. Details of current pricing, features, and trial periods are available on our website.
3.2 Trials
We may offer trial periods of up to 120 days. At the end of your trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan unless you cancel before the trial ends.
3.3 Billing
Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually, depending on your selected plan). All payments are processed by Stripe. By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge your payment method for all fees associated with your subscription.
3.4 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law.
3.5 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. We will provide at least 30 days' notice of any price increases before they take effect for existing subscribers. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of a price change constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
4. Your Content
4.1 Ownership
You retain full ownership of all manuscripts, story notes, world-building materials, and any other creative content you create or upload to the Platform ("Your Content"). These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights in Your Content to Writers Unblocked.
4.2 License to Writers Unblocked
By submitting Your Content to the Platform, you grant Writers Unblocked a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to access, process, store, and display Your Content solely as necessary to provide the services described in these Terms. This license terminates when you delete Your Content or close your account, subject to reasonable technical latency.
4.3 AI-Derived Metadata
The Platform's entity extraction and AI features automatically generate structured metadata from Your Content — including character profiles, location data, timelines, and narrative threads. This metadata is derived from Your Content and subject to the same ownership principles. We use this metadata solely to power Platform features for your benefit.
4.4 No AI Training
We do not use Your Content to train general-purpose AI or machine learning models, and we do not sell or license Your Content to third parties for such purposes.
4.5 Content Responsibility
You are solely responsible for Your Content, including ensuring you hold all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions for any material you submit. You represent and warrant that Your Content does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other rights of any third party.
4.6 Prohibited Content
You agree not to submit content that:
Infringes any copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
Contains defamatory, harassing, hateful, or threatening material
Depicts or facilitates illegal activity
Contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code
Violates any applicable law or regulation
5. Platform Use and Acceptable Conduct
You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform or its infrastructure
Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Platform
Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Platform without our written consent
Circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or security features
Use the Platform in a manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our systems
Share your account credentials or allow others to access the Platform under your account
Use the Platform to transmit unsolicited communications or spam
6. Intellectual Property
The Platform, including its design, software, features, and all content we provide (excluding Your Content), is owned by Writers Unblocked and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand elements without our prior written consent.
7. Privacy
Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, available at https://writersunblocked.studio/privacy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Platform, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Third-Party Services
The Platform integrates with third-party services including Stripe (payments), Mailgun (email), PostHog (analytics), and others. Your use of such third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. Writers Unblocked is not responsible for the practices or content of any third-party services.
9. Disclaimers
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT ANY CONTENT OR RESULTS PRODUCED BY THE PLATFORM WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR EXPECTATIONS.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WRITERS UNBLOCKED AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF CREATIVE WORK, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Writers Unblocked and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) Your Content; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party.
12. Termination
12.1 By You
You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Closing your account will cancel your subscription at the end of the current billing period.
12.2 By Writers Unblocked
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to access the Platform ceases immediately. We will provide a reasonable opportunity to export Your Content prior to account closure, unless your account was terminated for cause. Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law shall survive termination.
13. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in such courts.
14. Modifications to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Platform and sending an email to the address on file. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes your acceptance. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Platform and close your account.
15. General Provisions
Entire Agreement: These Terms and the Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Writers Unblocked regarding the Platform.
Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Assignment: You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights without restriction.
No Third-Party Beneficiaries: These Terms do not confer any rights on any third party.
